Time Changes
Round the clock operations need to plan
carefully. Here are some suggestions for
dealing with these issues and instructions
for changing clock time.
A Series / RSI Model Clock TimeChange
Instructions:
Applies to A300 Series, A2000
Series, RSI Hand Punch Models 2000, 3000,
4000
Please keep in mind that if you change
the time on the clock while employees
are clocked in, then their time worked
for the day may be incorrect. You can
easily edit and correct the time in TimeCentre.
If you have Windows98 or NT and TimeCentre
Communications version 5.0 or higher and
you usually communicate with your clock
in LAN (real-time) setting, then you can
use this shortcut:
-Launch TimeCentre Communications and
go into the SETUP section.
-Set the REAL TIME CLOCK UPDATE option
to YES.
-Set the BEGIN TIME to 3:01 AM and set
the END TIME to 1:59 AM.
-At 2:00 AM Windows should change the
time on your PC. When TimeCentre Communications
starts again the first thing that it will
do is to synchronize the time on the clock
with the time on your PC.
If you communicate with your clock via
modem, serial, or you don´t want
to follow the directions above, follow
these steps to set the time on your clock:
-Launch TimeCentre Communications and
go into the SETUP section.
-Set the REAL TIME CLOCK UPDATE option
to YES.
-Poll your clock like you normally do
and the first thing that it will do is
to synchronize the time on the clock with
the time on your PC.
If you have an older version of TimeCentre
Communications that does not support REAL
TIME CLOCK UPDATE, then you need to use
the program called Data Clock Maintenance
to update the time on the clock(s). Firstly,
verify that the time is correct on the
PC. Then, launch Data Clock Maintenance
from the TimeCentre group in the START
menu, select the appropriate clock number
in the scrolling field in the bottom right
corner, check the box next to Update Date/Time,
and press the download button.
Following are some alternative ideas
to changing the clock time while employees
are clocked in. Single-shift and Double-shift
operations simply need to change the time
on the clock after everyone has left for
the day. Round the clock operations need
to plan more carefully. Here are some
suggestions for dealing with these issues:
Single-Clock:
You will need to have all employees clock
out before you change the clocks time.
After all employees have clocked out,
download all the clock punches. Set the
clock to the new time, and have all employees
clock in again.
Multi-Clock:
One option with multi-clocks is that you
can designate certain clocks to be set
before the time change, and certain clocks
to be corrected after the time change.
If an employee will be working through
the time change, he would punch in at
the clock already set to the new time
and punch out on the same clock. Alternately,
employees that punch in at the clock to
be corrected after the time change can
punch out at the same clock which is still
using the old time.
